B is for.....

*BOOKS*   *BUGS*

After BANANAS for breakfast, we jumped right in to our schoolwork!
Of course, today we focused on the letter "B"! Everett did a great job with drawing his letters - as far as I know this was his first time draw and trace the letter "B" all on his own! He also learned that "B" is for BIRDS and BUTTERFLIES!

Yay Everett!

I had to stick these two in there just because these are some of the other pages we worked on.  They aren't focusing on the letter "B", but he did such a good job I wanted to share!
On the left, he had to circle the letter that each picture started with!  There was a BEAR in there that started with a "B"!  Then he had fun tracing the shapes in the pictures...looks like we might have a lefty on our hands!

After school time we decided to head outside to our BACKYARD
 to BEAT the Texas heat!

Everett had a blast checking out all his different BUGS with his BIG magnifying glass!

Then it was time to set out for his BIG BOAT in the BACKYARD!

Everett made sure to point out the BLUE rocks on his rock climbing wall!

After some time outside in the BACKYARD, we ventured in for some puzzle time!  This is one of Everett's new favorite things to do!  It's also fun Mommy and E time! :)
What better puzzle to work on on "B" day than one of BUZZ LIGHTYEAR!

Almost done!  Happy BOY!

Everett loved this one!
Did you notice he had on his BLUE shirt today?
On the menu was his BRONTOSAURUS sandwich
filled with peanut butter and BANANAS!
He ate his applesauce with his BLUE spoon and drank out of his BLUE TCU cup!
Don't forget that it was served on his BIG BOAT plate!
Every bit was gone in no time!

A Letter a Day: The Letter A!

My "Letter of the Week" plan has quickly turned into "Letter of the Day" due to time constraints!  I really want to get through the whole alphabet this summer, so this is how we are going to accomplish this task!  I got this idea from my friend Whitney Kovash....who got the idea from a blog she follows called the Poe Family Blog. The icon below will link you directly to her "Letter of the Week" posts.  I thought this was such a great idea when I saw my friend Whitney doing it, that I was determined to get Everett and I on board with it this summer!

The icon below is from the Poe Family Blog if you are interested in her ideas!  She is amazing and quite frankly puts me to shame....but hey...I need someone to INSPIRE me!

A is for.....

Here are just a few of the things that got us started today!

Everett loves his AMAZING APRON!
He got to wear it while he helped Mommy make a breakfast that
had to do with today's letter...."A"

He ATE his breakfast in no time flat!
Dipping his APPLES in the peanut butter was AMAZING!
He ASKED if we could have that more often!

Next it was time for school....
His buddy, ALEX the ALLIGATOR
decided to join us and bring along his little baby ALLIGATOR!
We learned all about writing the letter A  in upper and lowercase!
We also found out that ARMADILLO and ANTS start with the letter A!

Of course....
We had to find our favorite ASTRONAUT and space ranger Buzz Lightyear!

Naturally...what might come next?
Everett had a blast running around with his AIRPLANES!
Their flying power was AWESOME!
He made sure to tell me all about them and ARRANGE by size!

We also spent time reading about the ALPHABET!
One of his favorite books by Dr. Suess is ABC's.

How about an ARRANGING game...
Our ALPHABET flashcards somehow got all mixed up....
Can you get them back in the correct order?

Of course, we start with the letter "A"!

 ALMOST done!!

AWESOME!  You did it!
The ALPHABET is back in the correct ARRANGEMENT!
Way to go, Everett!

What better afternoon snack than....
ANTS on a log! Yum!

Up Next:  The Letter B!

Deep in the HEART of TEXAS!

While Everett was spending a week with his Grandma and PawPaw King, my friend Lisa and I hit the road to the Texas Hill Country!  If there is one place in Texas that I love to be, it's there!  I am so lucky my parents have this ranch there and that I can spend time there pretty much whenever!

Texas Paradise!

These are some photos of wildlife around the little "Casita Blanca" where we spend most of the mornings and evenings relaxing on the patio, playing Mexican Train dominoes, or enjoying some yummy food and Sangria!

I LOVED this one....and it was the only shot of this pretty Bluebird I could get! :)

Here we are regulating the wild hog population in Texas....
Hey....they state is ASKING for help!

All "dolled" up and ready for dinner at the famous Mac and Ernie's in Tarply, Texas!

My favorite (and one and only) nephew!
Hayden Lewis
How cute is he in these boots??

 My brother's new dog...

The rest of these were taken on our last morning at the ranch!
